Healthcare in America is Changing; How Will Marin be Affected?

Linda Tavaszi, Chief Executive Officer, Marin Community Clinics

Access to healthcare services in our nation is excellent for some people and out of reach for others.  The Affordable Care Act, first implemented in 2014, was supposed to give more Americans access to affordable health insurance and to reduce growth in health care spending.  The presidential campaign took us through a national conversation about the ACA, and we are now debating dramatic changes.  What changes will actually be implemented, and how will they affect us locally?

Linda Tavaszi has been a leader in Marin County healthcare for three decades.  She is on the front line evaluating this situation and planning for local impacts.  Linda will discuss the probable direction, the possibilities under discussion and their overall effect.

Marin Community Clinics is a vital part of the healthcare network of our community, serving patients from all walks of life: the employed who have private health insurance, those enrolled in Covered California plans, people covered by public insurance programs, and those with limited or no health insurance. No one is turned away and charges are based on each individual’s ability to pay. Founded 43 years ago as a mostly volunteer organization, today MCC serves more than 31,000 individuals each year in nine clinics spread throughout the county.

Linda was appointed CEO in September 2011. Previously she was Senior Vice President of Marin General Hospital. She holds Masters Degrees in Social Work and Public Administration, and a PhD in healthcare administration.
