About Wednesday Morning Dialogue

Wednesday Morning Dialogue began over 40 years ago, and was started by Kit Cole and friends. Back in the day, it seemed that there were many men's clubs where professionals could come together as peers, but there was a definite lack of the same opportunities for women. And thus, Wednesday Morning Dialogue was born, and has been meeting for one Wednesday a month ever since.

In the words of our Mission Statement, our purpose is: to gather together women in the community who have excelled in their field or profession; to provide them with an opportunity to become acquainted with each other and to exchange ideas on topics of mutual interest; to encourage intellectual development and to help open new vistas of thought.

Forty years later we are now a group of women who represent everything from:

  • government and nonprofit administrators to educators
  • realtors to entrepreneurs
  • actresses to elected officials and active retirees
  • a very diverse group
We come together to dialogue, to hear amazing speakers talk about everything from master gardening to the initiatives at the Buck Institute, from the historical destruction of Afghanistan to the history of the Miwok culture.

Once a month we meet from 7:30 - 9:00 to talk, to learn from our invited speakers, to mingle and share our successes and our interests.
We 're a little bit social, a little bit business, and a lot about camaraderie. Our membership has grown, and been sustained, by being home-grown...every new member has been invited and sponsored by one of our current members, and they join WMD because they're looking for a group of like-minded women. Several of our current members have been with WMD for more than 25 years - and we all enjoy welcoming new members to our group.

We are interesting women and we are interested in others, sharing breakfast and lively conversation on the second Wednesday of every month.
